Flashback Friday: Celebrating Jake’s Birthday
Brina and Karlie were fascinated by the cool new toy on the floor.
Today we flashback to Jake’s birthday July 2005 when the girls were five months old. It was his first time celebrating a birthday with two little munchkins with us. They made the day quite entertaining. They enjoyed the new things to explore and see throughout the day from birthday banners to candles to rice krispie treats and more.
Jake with his two girls on his birthday. They were intrigued by the candles, but didn’t touch them. Pretty sure they didn’t help blow them out either.
This is cool new mat to lay around sucking our fingers on….
Brina sitting at the kitchen counter. So Mom…..I hear their might be some kind of special treat for Dad’s birthday, can I try it first, pretty please!?
Oh no….too much excitement for someone. Who did it this time!? Brina is feeling better now and Karlie is thankful it wasn’t her this time around.

Birthday Celebration with a KitKat & Starburst Jellybean Cake!
Jake’s Birthday Cake decorated with chocolate frosting, KitKats, and Starburst Jellybeans
We celebrated Jake’s birthday a week early this summer due to upcoming family travel. The girls helped make the cake and created a fun topping for him. They used two of his favorite candies KitKats and Starburst Jellybeans to decorate the cake. It was cute hearing giggle as they decorated the cake (and ate some jellybeans I am sure). We had a great day celebrating my Handsome Man’s birthday! Thankful for time together to relax, have fun, and enjoy a celebration.

A slice of sugary goodness! I highly recommend you offset the sweetness with a glass of milk, but hey it’s nice to have something sweet every once in awhile to celebrate birthdays!

A Picnic in the Park
Recently, I was able to meet Jake during lunch hour since I was in his area after an appointment. I packed PB&J sandwiches and goodies for our picnic in the park. We met at Legacy Park to eat our picnic lunch in the swing over looking beautiful flowers and enjoying a few minutes to catch up. After eating we took a walk together around the park. It was great spending some time with my man relaxing and talking for a little bit in the middle of the day.
If you haven’t been to Legacy Park you should check it out, it is beautiful, quiet, and family friendly. You will see kids playing on one of their two playgrounds, families having a picnic on the grass, kites flying, and people walking leisurely on the paths. It is right off Roper Mountain Road across the road from Embassy Suites.
Go ahead and take a picnic in the park with your husband or family. It is a great way to get fresh air and spend quality time together. It doesn’t have to be expensive or fancy. Find a location near you so you save on gas and meet even if it is over lunch. Having those extra few minutes to relax and communicate are valuable in every relationship!
