Pavilion - Greenville - Ice Skating, Bouncy Castle, George the Train, Playground, Picnic, Cousins

Karlie enjoying her time on the ice!

The girls had a blast hanging out with their cousins and friends at the Greenville Pavilion Recreation Complex this summer.  Every Friday this summer the kids could get in to ice skate, play on the bouncy castles, ride on George the Train, play at the park, and get a snack for $10 each.  The parents would get in for free (although we didn’t get the snack)! 🙂  The ice skating was only for 2 hours, but the rest of the activities you could do all day.

    Ewww…… What’s that SMELL?!

We were able to join some friends for some fun at the Happy Cow Farm.  It was fun to explore the farm together!  It was really quiet while we were there with no official tours being offered that afternoon, but the employees told us that we could watch them as they take the cows into milk.

We watched the cows on the farm, ate some delicious Happy Cow ice cream, and watched them milk the cows.  As were watching them milk the cows the workers invited us to come into the barn while they were milking the cows AND gave the kids a taste of fresh milk straight from the cow’s udder!  Karlie was the first one brave enough to try it.  Her first words were – “That was HOT MILK!”   They had a blast learning about dairy cows.  The workers were truly amazing with the kids and very patient when answering their questions.

Climbing on rocks at Herdklotz Park with friends

We met some sweet friends at the park for a picnic and to play!  The only time that I could get all four kids to sit still long enough for a picture was after they climbed up on this rock.  It was the big rock, but they all managed to get up onto it.  Thankful for a great time with friends.

Derby decided to join me on the dash in front on the way to and from the park today.  He was on the lookout for a fun adventure!  It’s not everyday a horse rides on my dash.  The girls thought it was hilarious having him help in the van!

  • Thankful for Friendships & Beautiful Surprises!

    Flower Surprise - Sweet Friend

Beautiful bouquet of flowers from a friend!

I am thankful for friendships and for the amazing blessings in my life!  A sweet friend dropped this beautiful bouquet of flowers off at my house one evening with a card!  Her timing couldn’t have been more perfect….isn’t it awesome how God allows friends to time a surprise so perfectly!!!  It was one of those crazy busy days and I was trying to balance all the activities that were going on with our family as well as prepare for some upcoming events.  I was in the middle of working with the girls on homework, making dinner, picking up the house, making lunches for the following day, among a handful of other tasks when the doorbell rang.  When I heard the doorbell  I didn’t think too much of it because I  figured it was probably just the neighbor kids wanting to play.  Jake was home and on a phone call, but he was the first one to the door.  He brought back these beautiful flowers which totally surprised me and made my day!!!!

    P1100674c

    Love fresh flowers!

Even though it has been over two weeks since these flowers arrived on my doorsteps they are still in the vase on the table!  I think God has allowed these flowers to remain beautiful so long to continue to remind me of his goodness and the blessings of friendships.    I have only  pulled out a couple flowers that were wilting, but several still look amazing!  The best part about these beautiful flowers is every time I look at them I am reminded of my sweet and thoughtful friend who delivered them to me.

Friendships are a wonderful blessing in our lives.  They take time to cultivate and grow much like flowers.  God allows us the opportunity to walk through this journey with special people we call friends.  Friendship also means we have the joy of celebrating the good times with our friends as well as spending extra time in prayer as a friend goes through a rough patch.  Everyone needs these types of friends to laugh with during the joyous moments and encourage you when it seems like your stuck in a whirlwind.

Every time I see these flowers or smell their refreshing fragrance when I walk into the room I am reminded of my friendship and take a moment to pause and pray specifically for that friend.  I pray for her to have the strength, wisdom, and energy she needs to walk through her day.  I may not know what challenges she faces each moment or joys she experiences throughout the day, but I can still lift her up in prayer knowing that God knows what she’s facing today and He alone can give her exactly what she needs.

Thanks Dee for the beautiful flowers, your friendship, and for walking this journey of life alongside me!  May we always continue to grow ever closer to our Savior.  You are a true blessing in my life!  Thanks sweet friend for the beautiful surprise!

  • Ready or Not 2014 Has Arrived!

    Happy New Year 2014

It is always exciting bringing in a New Year!  A new year means a fresh start.  Thoughts of many goals, projects, and activities run through my mind.  Last year, 2013, went by so quickly that I barely blinked and it was gone.  There were many things that I wanted to accomplish yet somehow a ton of other items took my time and attention.  A lot of the activities that took up my time were good and essential, however, like everyone else we only have 365 (or in case of a leap year 366 days that year to accomplish all those goals).  I don’t ever want to look back over a year and feel like it was a waste.  I want to continue making positive progress.  Not every day will be perfect (far from it), but small steps and progress in the right direction over time really do make an impact not only on my life, but on the lives I touch.

Here’s a few of my goals for 2014 (365 days to make progress in the right direction):

    • Daily time in God’s word
    • Regular quiet time set aside to pray
    • Create happy memories with family and friends
    • Scheduled quality time with my handsome man and kids
    • Smile more
    • Count my blessings
    • Laugh often
    • Focus on the good things that come my way and let go of the negative stuff that drags me down
    • Say yes to those activities that bring me closer to where I want to be & “no” (this is a hard one) to those activities that don’t
    • Eat healthier
    • Exercise more
    • Post regularly here on Blessings Multiplied
    • Stick to our family budget
    • Connect more frequently with family and friends
    • Take time to encourage and be a blessing to others (family, friends, and strangers)

That at least gives you an idea of some of the goals I will be working on this year.  There are several more specific goals I have for myself and my family.  What are some of your goals for 2014?  Will we get to the end of this year 365 days from now and be smiling because we at least made process in a positive direction?  I pray that we’ll be able will learn a lot, continue to grow, and create lasting happy memories this year.   Life is short, let’s make the most of the days ahead.

  • Sweet Celebration

Jake brought me a sweet treat shortly after midnight on my birthday

I had a great birthday.  There are so many reasons to celebrate yet another year.  All the cards, calls, texts, emails, messages, and more from family and friends made my birthday extra special.  Thankful for Jake and the girls, they treated me very well and managed to surprise me several times too!

Cute birthday notes from Brina and her classmates at school!

  • Travel & Vacation: Nighttime Fun at Walt Disney World

    Still going strong!

The girls were still going strong after a full day at Disney!  We had just watched the Electrical Parade & Firework Show and the girls still wanted to do some more.  So we decided to keep on going and we ended up staying until midnight when the park closed!  They had a blast, but crashed immediately after they got into the van.  For more posts about our Disney adventure you can go to Walt Disney World or Rides & Celebrate A Dream Come True Parade or Walt Disney World (part 2) or Disney’s Electrical Parade & Firework Show posts.

  • Travel & Vacation: Walt Disney World (Orlando, FL – Part 2)

Enjoying a funny show at Disney

We had a blast taking the girls to Walt Disney World for the first time.  Thankful for a great time with both family and friends.  There were a lot of fun rides and shows as well as a walk through the Swiss Family Robinson tree house which we finished reading to the girls awhile ago.  You can read more about our trip in the Walt Disney World or Rides & Celebrate A Dream Come True Parade posts.

  • Travel & Vacation: Walt Disney World (Orlando, FL)

We made it to Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida

A few months ago we had the opportunity to go visit friends in Winter Park, Florida.  While we were there we took a day and explored Walt Disney World – Where Dreams Come True.  The girls were so excited!  Jake and I still have passes leftover from our honeymoon (which was my first time to see Disney World) so we only had to get tickets for the girls.  It was so neat taking the kids and seeing their reactions to all the amazing rides and adventures at Disney World.  We arrived right about opening time and stayed until they closed the park at midnight.  It was a full day packed full of great activities and amazing memories!

Three girls watching all the people in front of us get onto the Frontier log ride

My seat buddy Karlie is loving the ride.  Smiling the whole time but not taking her eyes off all the stuff around her.

Brina mesmerized by all the stuff to look at.  Was the wolf scary B?!  Good thing she has Daddy to protect her!

Karlie found a small purple flower that had dropped off a tree and gave it to me.  Sweet girl!
