You Know it is Going to Be An Interesting Day When …
You look down and you are wearing not only two different shoes, but two entirely different colored shoes! Not that long ago I woke up with my alarm (5:00 am), got dressed and headed downstairs to go yoga before waking up the rest of the family and heading off to work. It was one of those mornings I had to drag myself out of bed. I didn’t “want” to go do yoga, but knew that it would be good for me.
As I was setting up my mat and yoga items I happened to look down at my feet and noticed that I was wearing 1 pink and 1 black flipflop. Oops! Granted I did get dressed in the dark as to not wake my sleeping husband, but it was a sure sign I was more tired than I realized when I didn’t even notice I was wearing two different shoes for several minutes.
It was a rather busy day, but I survived. Doing yoga that morning even with two different shoes was the right choice. I don’t always make good choices, but if the worse thing that happens in my day is wearing two different colored shoes I am doing ok. Who knows maybe I will start a new trend. At least it is something funny to look at and laugh about. And I made it out of the house with two coordinating shoes that day (I double checked before heading into work)!
Flashback Friday: First Summer
Brina completely folded in half and sleeping
This flashback Friday bounces us back to June 2005. The girls first summer! They were continuing to grow. It was amazing to see them start to learn more and change. They still could go to sleep in the most unusual (and what looked like uncomfortable) positions. Their smiles and little giggles made our days so much brighter. They put up with our silliness as parents and we had a lot of fun learning together.
We were home for the majority of the month of June. At their regular Doctors appointment they were growing and looking healthy, however, on Brina’s apnea monitor her heart rate was showing unusually high numbers so we had to go into a specialists office to get her hooked up to an EKG. We also had to bring her home on a portable EKG for a couple days to see if there were any complications. Thankfully she was fine, she just has a faster heartbeat than other kids at her age.
Karlie was our thumb sucker. She is enjoying her thumb as she falls asleep.
Snuggle bugs
Looks like mischief!
Karlie giggling as she attacks Tigger!
Karlie fast asleep with a decorative gift bow on her forehead…..she has no idea!
Love seeing those pudgy cheeks!
Brina having the EKG test done. She is not very happy with us right now.
Back home with all the EKG wires attached to her. She was more content once we were back home and didn’t seem to mind the extra wires until we pulled them off 2 days later and she had a bunch of red spots all over her belly.
Hanging out!
Silly ducks….Brina – “What are you guys looking at?” while Karlie snoozes away completely unaware of the duck on her head.
Karlie tolerated our silliness. As long as she was fed, changed, and got to play she was a happy baby.
Look at that cute milk belly! Such a huge change since her surgery the month before when she couldn’t keep anything down. Thankful for the doctors and a healthy baby.
Brina is excited about picking out gifts in the Cheaper Than Dirt Catalog…..makes Daddy so proud!
Brina showing off her fancy “pant” hat. She is not very impressed.
Karlie is not overly excited by her hat either. She is ready for her nap!
Happy Brina Bee!
No Bear… Just A Kind Dog…
The letter I found on the front porch container!
On Saturday we enjoyed a quiet family brunch on our back deck. It was nice to sit outside in the refresh air, eat delicious food, and spend some time catching up with my family. As we began to clean up and bring the dishes into the house I rang the doorbell at the back door because I realized once I arrived at the door would not be able to open the door without dropping something.
Instead of running to my rescue after ringing the doorbell both girls ran to the front door to see who had stopped by for a visit. It was then I realized that they had no clue that the back doorbell even worked. They were completely puzzled. How could someone ring the doorbell and disappear in a matter of seconds? I teased them that it was probably just someone coming by to drop off free books when they saw our dog, Skipper they left quickly because it was not polite to just walk into someone’s house uninvited.
I finished cleaning up after breakfast and went about doing other activities not really thinking much about the doorbell and teasing the kids about the free books. Later that day I went out the front door to get the mail and saw this note posted on the container on the front porch. I should have known that our kids love books so much they would be concerned about not being able to get to the door in time to get the free books.
Sometimes they do random things, like this note, that catch me off guard and make me laugh. I didn’t realize how seriously they took me. I did explain to the girls that it was me that rang the doorbell on the back deck. They both had forgotten about that doorbell. After talking with them it made more sense that I was ringing the doorbell than some stranger ringing the front doorbell and vanishing into thin air. We all had a good laugh about doorbell prank and note on the front porch.
