• Counting My Blessings: Week In Review

It was a great week with my family.  We had some good fun together while accomplishing a lot of little, but much needed tasks around the house and yard.  The girls have been enjoying their summer adventures too!  Love hearing about their days and what they have been learning at camp and the adventures they are enjoying.   Thankful for an opportunity to have an extra day with my family over the July 4th Holiday.

I want to be accountable to you so the following are snip-its of some of the things I am thankful for this past week.

Counting My Blessings – Week In Review:

Monday –Thankful for a great July 4th Holiday to celebrate our country, time with my family, and a chance to have an extra day at home to get some items done!

Tuesday – Thankful that Jake took the girls into summer camp so I could get into work earlier.  Also, grateful that I was able to get off work at lunch to pick up the girls and spend the afternoon with them.  We had a lot of fun hanging out together.

Wednesday – Thankful for Jake and the girls help getting some items done around the house.

Thursday – Thankful for an opportunity to spend extra time with extended family.  It wasn’t on the schedule until last night, but my Grandma Willa was in town visiting so we had an impromptu dinner with Grandma, my brother & his family, Aunt Pat, and my cousins and their families.  We had a great meal, the kids played well, and a good time of catching up.  Grateful for an opportunity to see family.

Friday – Thankful for the girls summer camp and the adventures that they have been able to enjoy this summer.  They met a lot of neat people this week and was able to get in a lot of biking time (also the importance of staying hydrated on hot summer days in South Carolina).  Both girls were grateful for the camel backs this week.

Saturday – Thankful for some time to catch up on projects around the house and yard.  Grateful for Jake and all he does for our family.

Sunday – Thankful for the freedom to worship and fellowship with other believers.

What are you thankful for today?  I encourage you to take the time to write down a few blessings that you have in your life today.  It will help cheer you up and turn your focus on the amazing blessings you encounter each day.

  • Mother’s Day Celebration!

Happy Mother's Day! Family Picture! My family

Thankful for an opportunity to be a Mom! Being a Mom is an amazing honor and privilege that quite frankly scares me some days.  It’s good to know that the call of Motherhood is not a place for us to be alone, but a place where we get the opportunity to live life alongside other Mothers and sisters who can pray, encourage, and support each other throughout this incredible journey.

I am thankful for my Mother and the many Mothers and sisters in my life that continue to make an impact on my heart.  We live in a broken world full of broken people therefore it is impossible to be perfect and being a Mom tends to make that oh so clear.  It is essential and refreshing to have people who are willing to speak truth and love into your life on a regular basis.  I am grateful for each and every one of these ladies in my life.

Mother's Day - Breakfast in Bed

Breakfast in bed – fresh cherries, fresh pineapple, yogurt, and an omelet (ham, cheese, mushroom, spinach, and tomatoes)!  Delicious!

Jake and the girls made my Mother’s Day extra special.  I received breakfast in bed, hugs, and well wishes.  After breakfast we went to church together and heard a powerful message that hit home in my heart.  When we got home Jake and the girls (okay, mostly Jake) made an amazing lunch followed by a relaxing evening.  The girls gave me sweet cards, beautiful flowers, a blueberry bush, a swing cushion, and other goodies.

It is not always easy being a Mom, however, there are more good days and great memories than I can count.  Some days are a little tough and I get frustrated with myself for not being able to do better, but I never regret becoming a Mom.  Motherhood is one of life’s greatest gifts and callings.  It is an honor and a little scary at times raising kids.

Although life gets a little crazy at times I wouldn’t change it for anything.  It has been a wonderful gift seeing these two little blessings grow up.  They continue to amaze me and it is awesome seeing them use their talents.

    Happy Mother's Day

  • Flashback Friday: It’s Beginning to Look A Lot Like Christmas

Christmas Fun - Karlie and Brina (9 Months, Nov. 2005)c

    Karlie and Brina

The girls were super thrilled with all the neat Christmas items around the house to play with.  We were constantly putting Christmas ornaments back on the trees and various decorations back in their place.  Their curiosity was peaked and they loved exploring all the cool stuff.  The most interesting place we found a Christmas decoration during their first Christmas Holiday was in a diaper.  We went to change Karlie one time and she some how managed to get a good chunk of an ornament that she pulled off the tree down her diaper.  We think she was chewing on it, dropped it and it fell down in her dress only to re-appear at her next diaper change.  We were pretty surprised, but it didn’t seem to bother her at all.

  • Flashback Friday: Ready for Snow!

Sled Ride - Brina and Karlie (9 Months, Nov. 2005)c

Ready for a winter snow now!  The girls are all ready to try out their sled.  They were so excited with all the fun festivities going on during this time of year.  It was a fun experience going through the Holiday season for the first time with the girls.
