  • Song: “Without Love” by Stacie Orrico

This song speaks about the love of God from 1st Corinthians.  It is great to reminded of the greatest love we were given!  Here are a few phrases from the song.

If I speak in the tongues of angels
    But have not love
    I’m only a resounding noise
If I have the gift of knowledge
And if my faith moves mountains high
But have not love I am nothing

Though I know the One who holds
    The stars in the heavens
In the palm of His hand
And if I give all I possess
To the poor and the helpless
    I’ll still gain nothing
    Without love

  • Book: “Crush It!” by Gary Vaynerchuck

In a recent trip with the family out to the midwest (Nebraska and Kansas) I brought the book Crush It! by Gary Vaynerchuk.  My husband had picked up the book for me for Christmas.  I enjoyed reading Gary’s book and was able to get through it pretty quickly while we were in flight.

Gary’s passion overflows into his book.  The book is short, sweet and to the point.  Not only does Gary encourage you to follow your passion he also reminds you that it takes time and a lot of hard work to accomplish your goals. He is honest and straight forward about how to create your own personal brand around your personality and passions.  Everyday whether you realize it or not you market your personal brand.

The author gives a variety of ways to start building your brand as well as additional resources to check out.  He discusses a variety of Social Media tools. Although he highlights the ways that work well for him he also recommends a variety of other avenues and suggests that you find which ones are most beneficial for you.   Gary encourages each person to follow their dreams and “crush it” in their own way!

  • Song: “Love of My Life” by Jim Brickman

In celebration of the Valentine Holiday this week I wanted to share a song with about “love”.  I am thankful everyday for Jake and the many things that he does for our family.  He is an amazing part of my life and I love him so very much.  It is hard to believe we have been married almost 12 years and have known each over for over 16 years!  🙂  I am blessed and have much to be thankful for in my life.

I think it is important to share and encourage each other as we seek to improve our lives and the lives of those around us.  I want to live intentionally not just hope all my dreams and goals come true.  When I focus on small steps of improvement I am able to see results as I get closer to my goals.  Some weeks I get closer to the goals I have in my life and other weeks a take a few steps back (life happens, emergencies occur, people get sick).  Once the goals are written down and shared it provides a guideline for what I aim to accomplish this week.

    Why Share My Goals?

    • To keep me accountable
    • To share a piece of my life with you as I strive to be a better Child of God, Wife, Mom, Friend, Homemaker, Entrepreneur and the many other roles I have each week
    • To have my goals consistently written down so I can gauge progress more accurately
    • Create healthy habits in my life
    • To encourage you to share your goals with me as you continue to grown and learn

How did you do this week on your goals?  Feel free to share or link to your list of weekly goals.

  • Song: “Love Me” by JJ Heller

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nG7SPCVkKyY&feature=related

As I was listening to this song about “love” and even though there are many examples in the song of not receiving true love I was reminded how fortunate I am that there is someone who will love me no matter what.  I am thankful for a God who loves me not only when I succeed but when I fail.  He loves me for who I am flaws and all.   You my friend are loved too!

  • Intentional Living: Weekly Goals

  • Book: “God Gave Us You” by Lisa Tawn Bergren

This week one of the books I read to the girls before bed was God Gave Us You by Lisa Tawn Bergren.  Several of Lisa’s books have become family favorites over the past couple of years.  The girls love the illustrations as well as the story and I like that Lisa’s stories stimulate conversations about God, creation, love, and more.

The story starts as Mama Bear is tucking Little Cub into bed when Little Cub asked “Mama, where did I come from?”  Mama Bear goes through a simple version of how Little Cub was created, including pregnancy and the excitement of preparing for the new baby.  I love that the book mentions how the parents prayed for Little Cub even before she was born.  Lisa did a great job answering a common question little kids ask parents in this short and sweet book.

Overall I think Lisa Tawn Bergren provides a good story with beautiful illustrations by Laura J. Bryant.  The story gives nuggets of valuable information about pregnancy and babies.  The only thing that I didn’t “like” in this book (which was minor) was the author used the word “borned” during the conversation between Mama Bear and Little Cub.  Even though I know Little Cub was asking the question it distracted from the overall rhythm of the book a little bit.  This would be a great book for those who are having a second child or a young child that is asking a lot of questions about where they came from.
